Innovative CO2 storage in sea water

 Project ID: VP-PI-2021/53

Agreement ID: HG/21-0012

Objective:

Obtain scientific validation for innovative CO2 capture and storage technology, optimize process parameters for optimal storage parameters in seawater, creating an effective carbon storage mechanism to mitigate climate change.

Expected results:

1.   Validated CO2 capture and storage technology for further scaling and industrial application.

2.   Process mass and energy balance with actual process measurements for optimization of CO2 capture and storage for different sea salinity has been developed (validated Baltic, Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific conditions).

3.   Calculations of the carbon balance of CO2 capture and storage have been performed to determine the units of the carbon trading system under different process conditions in order to generate verified emission reduction units for potential customers who will purchase Hyrogas technology.

4.   A report on the industrial research process and a description of the results, including a test report on the pilot plant size experiment with different CO2 capture and storage parameters.

5.   Recommendations for the selection of technical parameters for the design of scalable equipment and a description of the technical conditions for the manufacture and operation of commercial equipment.

Implementation period: 29.07.2021 – 29.03.2022

Total budget: 12876,14 EUR

ERDF: 9045,22 EUR

Hyrogas: 1596,22 EUR
